Governor Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday that the new state flag of California will be the gay pride flag. He told reporters that the flag, "better represents the ideals of Californians." Newsom told The Miami Bulletin in an interview, "I spoke to my friends at a sailor club in San Francisco, and they asked me to change the flag to the gay pride flag. I told my muse, Antonio, that I would do my best to inspire the people of California with a new flag. It is a matter of pride. I am proud to share pride by raising the gay pride flag proudly next month at the capitol." The state plans on turning Pride Month into Pride Year and will legally require businesses to convert their logos into rainbow colors. The new state flag will be raised next month and will be flown at every government building.
